2024 PIT Logistics Center Tips for Leads
OVERVIEW:
Volunteers will all sign-in upon arriving at their Logistics Center. Leads will inform volunteers of their Group assignment. Volunteers will need to 1) determine a gift card steward on their team and 2) initial next to the gift card log. It is recommended volunteers use a highlighter on their printed maps to notate the areas they have canvassed. Leads will enter the time volunteers check back into the Logistics center at the end of their shift.
SUGGESTED CHECK-IN SCRIPT:
Welcome. Please sign-in to this sheet here. You are in Group # _____. Go find your group. Do not leave before the gift cards have been initialed by a member of the Group. Meet with your group and discuss among your group the following.
o Please meet your group members.
o Make sure each group member has the survey downloaded on their device. We cleared all the practice surveys, so you will need to update your device, if you haven’t already as we cleared the practice data.
o Discuss amongst yourselves who will be completing the gift card log.
o Discuss who will do the highlighting of area maps once canvassed.
GUIDE INFO:
Most guides are service provider outreach staff. The Guides with lived experience are the ones who are eligible for the $50 Visa Gift Card. Some locations have guide names in advance and some locations will have Guides showing up on the day of the count. Guides are already listed in your respective volunteer groups.
- A guide recruited by a service provider will say specifically “I am here to be a Guide and I was referred by ______(Agency).”
DURING THE PIT COUNT:
Leads may check-in with their Volunteers to see how they are progressing through their assigned maps. Volunteer contact information is in the Volunteer Groups.
AFTER THE PIT COUNT:
Volunteers will return their Volunteer Packet to their logistics Center at the end of their shift. Leads should put the time the packets are returned.
Their volunteer packet should include specifically:
o All maps, including the heat maps
- Lead to confirm the heat maps are returned
o All remaining gift cards, and a completed gift card log
- Lead to confirm we have a contact number for the Gift Card steward in case we have follow up questions
o Any completed paper surveys
- Paper surveys will be given to KH to return to Thurmond for data entry.

o A sense of accomplishment!
